Hi there,As you described the symptoms in a 6 month old child, it could be a medical emergency and requires immediate attention from a pediatrician. Generally it may be a simple febrile seizure or epilepsy that is a common illness occur in young children, during a viral illness in which their fever spikes up high all of a sudden. Other epilepsy reasons may also result in same illness.
If this is due to simple febrile seizures which is actually not harmful and don't require any medical intervention, it may be a concern to your child's Pediatrician if he or she is not sure that your child is in fact having a simple febrile seizures or due to meningitis (infection in spinal/brain membranes). Further tests like an EEG, CT, or MRI, not routinely be done in children with a first simple seizure may be required for further episodes.
Hope this helps.
